it's a skirt

There was a time when I used to love skirts. Very, very short skirts. I remember my mothers common parting words being something like: "Young lady, you are not leaving the house in these clothes!!" Her favourite expression for my veryshortskirts used to be "belts". Naturally, I never listened to her and always left the house, dressed in only a few tatters covering my innocent body. A few years ago the moment arrived, when I realised that I had a serious tooshortskirtproblem and that I now was too old to blame it on puberty. To be honest, I just looked at party snapshots of myself and they were literally screaming >>>SLUT<<< at me. Since then I didn't dare to wear skirts in a very long time at all. I wasn't even interested in it anymore and somehow the feminity, relating to my style of dressing, got lost. For the last few weeks my eagerness to experiment seems to be back on track and as a result I dared to do this: Buy a skirt with bandana pattern and wear it.

To be honest, wearing bandanas as tops or skirts isn't really a new thing to me and I am welcoming the trend. Bandana-wear can look super super tacky, which is also a thing I love about it. I was ranging between the skirt and these super dope shorts. Since I own a lot of shorts and not one single skirt, I boldly went for the skirt.  The midi skirt, also really pretty to look at, was a bit too daring for my boytaste.

mettle - fifth element 12

As much as I am keen on the underwateralienembryo feel in these shots‒and let's be honest just for the record here: clothes do always look about a hundredfold greater underwater than they actually do in real life‒I can't say mettle's fifth element collection is de facto convincing me. Besides the backbone necklace (last picture), the shapes just all look a little too familiar for my taste. Personally, I'm here for the the Leeloo factor and the cute little boobs. And the water. ( Excuse me‒really long & especially hard working day. )

HERMIONE FLYNN // The Homogenized Human

Directed by Ryan Fielding
Produced by Hermione Flynn
Models: Liv MacPhedran and Emma Coppersmith
Hair&Make-Up: Dominique Whitticker
Music: Frakkur

This is absolutely stunning. Finding this film (and Frakkur / sigor rós) made this day a better day. After weeks and months of getting flooded with nothing but bullshit, finally something great has popped up my reader list. The best thing about such a wonderful incident is, that this sole magnificence makes up for everything bad. KIDS, THERE IS STILL LOVE AND GREATNESS IN THIS WORLD!

Mr. Waris Ahluwalia

"The problem is, people get attached to their ideas. You can't have an attachment to ideas. You have to let them just flow right through you and if they work they work, and if they don't they don't." - yes, thank you for recollecting.

"Do what you love and surround yourself with people you love." - again, positive.

besides being a remarkably handsome and well-dressed man with a magnificent beard, Waris Ahluwalia is a brilliant actor (go see the darjeeling limited, one of my favourite movies) and i have a major crush on him <3

thoughts on blogging

there are two reasons for my absence: #1 i have been working my ass off, trying to get a nice portfolio for my university applications together. absurdly, i actually got invited to participate in the aptitude test at the university where i least expected it. i was shocked, to say the least. but since there hasn't been anything decided yet and there are two more to master, i've already put my focus back on creating.
#2 the internet and especially this small, fucked up rubric of fashion blogging have been boring me to death. i refuse to detect another post that is about what someone has just recently bought / someone needs to buy / what's inside someone's fucking bag / contests that force people into liking someone's facebook page / glossybox / ... you get the idea. when did people start to think it's cool to be someone else's advertising panel?

RUNAWAYFROMHOME THINKS IT'S SHIT TO WANT TO BUY SOMETHING ONE DOESN'T NEED.

it is possible to be interested in fashion, without being a dickhead but it's hard and you have to work on yourself and your consumer behaviour everyday. occasionally, i get sucked in too but i'll keep on digging myself out again.

because of all this annoyance, caused by these very unimportant blogs, i was close to shut down runawayfromhome. luckily i realized, i'm not a douchebag (i tend to forget this one) and my blog isn't about buying and consuming. it's about inspiration and awesomness, and therefore i allowed myself to stay.

if anyone knows any recommendable blogs, please let me know. i'm going to sort out my reading list and i doubt, there will be left more than 5-10 blogs.

Look At You

Filmed by Adrian Wilson for Zana Bayne Leather. Isn't it intriguing how a small piece of leather and metal on a woman's can create such a suspenceful atmosphere? I would love to see the harness become a more common accessory, because apart from all the hotness, it's a very versatile deal. Changing the entire appearance of a look in seconds and that doesn't always have to be in a sexual way. Check out their site for more possible combinations or move on straight to the shop and buy me one, so you'll finally get to see some boobies on this starving blog.

tELLER

Juergen Teller, a photographer that inspires me. Punkt. Nah, this is not going to be another hymn of praise. I just stumbled across these nice pictures of the Marc Jacobs SS12 campaign. Model is the bjorky (mixed Björk & corky) and very magnificent Xiao-wen Ju.

On top you get this snippet of Mtv's "The Pulse" from the 90s. That's my boy Jürgen from Bubenreuth.

AMUSE

I like the mood in this. Fashion films are always at risk to come across moronic, if we want to be honest. It's clever to focus on a nice mood instead of a mindless plot. Still think spraying on garbage in a bin appears to be slightly retarded.

Cathy Cooper

People, this lady makes my hippie heart beat faster. Cathy Cooper is her name and she is fabulous. Also, she is the proof that tattoos are awesome, no matter what age you are. Read the Closet Visit interview and check out the polaroid series by Jeana Sohn.

Editorial: Tati Cotliar by Jason Kibbler

It's hard to find inspiring editorials to me, because of my fussy eye for details. Sometimes the smallest triviality ruins it. The styling is lovely, I'd wear it like this. The ubercool put-on expressions are kind of questionable but look at that girl's face. What a sweetheart.

Julien David Spring 2012

Okay, actually I am not a fan of posting runway pictures, simply because I don't want to repeat what 213049812 bloggers already posted. But since this is no Balenciaga or Alexander Wang post and the collection really caught my eye, I thought I should share this.

Especially lovin the jackets and the jumpsuit. AND the tears.
